FAQ

What kind of wig would you suggest that is more beginner friendly?

I would recommend getting a lace closure wig for someone that is starting to wear wigs for the first time, there is little to maintenance when it comes to closure wigs.

Another thing I would recommend for someone that is wearing a wig for the first time is to try our swiss lace (30% denier) closures instead of the film lace (15% denier) because swiss lace is more beginner friendly due to the fact that the lace material is a bit thicker then the film lace material which is very delicate and is recommended for people that have worn wigs before with delicate lace; however please keep in mind that film lace pieces are not recommended for everyday use unlike swiss lace.

Once you get used to wearing wigs with our beginner friendly swiss lace then you can try out a lace frontal wig; and when it comes to the lace after wearing the beginner friendly swiss lace closures/frontals then you can also try a film lace piece.

Always remember that all lace closures or frontal must be handled with great care to preserve the quality of the lace piece.

What do I have to do once I receive my 'Arden Beauty Wig'?

Our wigs are very beginner friendly because we basically do all the work for you, every single wig is customized to perfection before they are shipped out, it takes a lot of time to customize each and every wig to make sure once you receive your wig, you will not have to spend so much time trying to customize it yourself.

All wigs are constructed on a sewing machine and the sizes are based off of a universal head size chart which is also listed on all wig services forms and in the 'Head Size Chart' section, its really important that you know your head size before placing an order to ensure you get a wig perfectly made just for you.

Each and every wig will come with an adjustable elastic band to ensure extra security and a snug fit when wearing the wig, the only thing thats needs to be done when you receive your wig is you have to cut the lace off or you can request that the lace is cut when you place your order.

For each and every wig from our 'Classic Collection' which consists of premade closures or frontals the knots are bleached and toned to achieve a scalp like illusion, the piece is then plucked to mimic a natural hairline.

For our custom handmade pieces that are completely ventilated from scratch, I don't have to bleach the knots or pluck them because they come already ventilated to perfection and the knots are really small unlike most manufactured pieces because I do single knots and single strands in specific areas to ensure the piece looks extremely natural.

All laces pieces must be handled with care regardless if it is a premade or custom ventilated piece, you want to make sure you follow the instructions listed on my website in the 'Hair Care' section and if you have any questions please contact us.

Do I have to bleach the knots? (This refers to custom handmade lace pieces)

I like to use 1-2 strands of hair in each knot which makes the lace piece appear more undetectable because of how small these knots are. I don't recommend bleaching the knots sometimes because it can cause more shedding and breakage especially if it's not done properly. Plucking is not necessary, as stated before I use 1-2 stands per knot in the middle and back of the pieces and only single strands at the front of every piece unless requested otherwise. this makes the wig/piece ay super flat and I ventilate all pieces to have a plucked look unless requested otherwise.

What is lace denier?

(Lace denier) = A unit of measurement that is used to determine the fibre thickness of individual threads or filaments used in the creation of textiles and fabrics.

Higher denier = Thicker lace

Lower denier = Thinner lace

  • Base Lace
  • Opera Lace
  • French lace
  • Swiss Lace
  • Fine Swiss Lace
  • Film Lace

Some of these laces such as (base lace, opera lace, french lace) have a heavier denier because of the weight and thickness (typically 35% denier of higher); The thinner lace such as (swiss lace, film lace, fine swiss lace) have a thinner denier ranging from 15-30 denier.

Please keep in mind the film lace and extra fine swiss lace isn't recommended for everyday use this lace is very delicate, however the client can always do what they like and prefer with their custom pieces.

Swiss lace (30% denier) is thicker than film lace and extra fine swiss lace this lace is very commonly used and is also advertised as transparent swiss lace, although it can be worn everyday and it will also blend beautifully into the skin.

Overall all lace is delicate and must be handled with good care, taken care of and stored correctly to ensure longevity of your custom piece.

What type of hair does 'Arden Beauty Bar' use?

The hair we use is 100% unprocessed virgin hair, you can bleach, dye and style your hair and it can revert back to its natural texture when washed. I will have a thorough consultation about what lengths, colour and textures you would like for your custom lace piece. You will also have the opportunity to send in the hair of your choice to be used for a custom piece.

How long does the hair last?

The longevity purely relies on how you care for the hair and your lifestyle, on average we recommend that you wash the hair at least once a month, and it depends on how much you wear the hair and if you work out, sweat or use a lot of products in the hair then we recommend washing it whenever it feels dull or greasy.

Our virgin hair can last up to 1-2 years and sometimes longer with proper care and storage, however some people buy wigs once a month or twice a year because they prefer different styles and colours.

We also provide wig repairs and maintenance services where you can send or drop off your wig to us.

(Check out the 'Wig Repair Service' section)

What are common mistakes that can ruin a wig?

- Over bleaching (the hair can break off!)

- Over plucking (causes bald spots on the lace)

- Washing the hair with bad quality products (good quality hair products are highly recommended)

- Excessive use of heat (try to cut down on the amount of heat that you apply to the hair, using hot tools on the hair excessively can cause heat damage)

- Be sure to wrap your hair at night with a silk scarf or bonnet to keep the hair from tangling.

Can I colour the hair?

Yes, you can colour the hair!

You can colour both our natural black hair and 613 blonde hair.

How do I know my cap size?

Our head size chart is located in the 'Head Size Chart' tab on our website.

We will need all of your measurements in inches to easily determine your cap size when booking a wig service with us following the guidelines and instructions listed on our website.

Please remember when measuring your head to have your hair in the same way you will wear it under the wig, for example if you plan to have your hair braided down or in a low bun please take your measurements with that same style, this will ensure accurate sizing.

If you are between sizes we recommend going for the larger size because you can adjust the size using the adjustable elastic band for a better fit.

I have a premade wig and I want the hairline to be ventilated to look more natural, how do I book that service?

We offer a service called a "Hairline Replacement Service"

For this service you can send in a lace closure or frontal wig to be replaced and that basically means that about 1-2 inches of the hairline of your closure or frontal is removed and replaced with a custom hairline completely ventilated from scratch.

When booking this service you can send in photos of your hairline or a desired hairline that you would like to mimic, or you can select the option of a standard natural hairline whichever option you choose the hairline will be extremely natural because we ventilate doing single knots and a single strand of hair for each knot.

Please keep in mind that this service is not offered for wigs that have a custom colour such as highlights or any custom colour because when removing the old hairline of your piece it is then replaced with hair that will match your hair texture and colour (we offer natural black or 613 blonde hair and any texture to match your wig) if the wig is already coloured before booking the service it is hard to match a pre-coloured wig, for this service we prefer to work on a non-coloured wig in either natural black or blonde (613) hair then if you would like to have your wig coloured you can do so after the 'hairline replacement' service is done and you have the option of having the wig coloured by us or anyone of your choice.

Do you re-construct premade wigs?

Yes we do! You can head over to the 'Wig Repair' form or the 'Bring Your Own Bundles' form and scroll down to the bottom and select the 'Wig Re-Construction' service.

How much bundles do recommend for a custom wig?

The number of bundles needed for a wig all depend on the length, fullness, texture and other variables that play a part in constructing a custom wig to your liking.

The standard amount of bundles used for either a closure or frontal wig is three bundles.

Example:

  • 2-3 Bundles (10" - 18" Inches)
  • 3-4 Bundles (20" - 24" Inches)
  • 4-5 Bundles (24" inches or more)

Is there an additional fee for adding extra bundles for a custom wig?

Yes we charge $20 for an additional bundle added on top of the standard amount of 3 bundles for a wig, if you are sending additional bundles please be sure to select the option on the 'Bring Your Own Bundles' form.
